Do you supply to home gardeners or only to the trade?

We are set up first and foremost for trade customers, so landscape designers, contractors, councils and revegetation projects who need reliable volume and consistent grades. That said, keen home gardeners are welcome to browse the catalogue and get in touch. The easiest way to work with us is to check availability, build a plant list and send it through so we can confirm stock and timing.

How do I check what plants are available before I order?

Our availability list is the live picture of what is ready to go and what is coming on. You can search by plant name, type or grade, add what you need to a quote list and send it to us. If something shows as limited or out of stock we will tell you what the realistic timing is, because most lines come back once fresh propagation material is ready.

What do plant grades and pot sizes like PB3 and PB5 mean?

PB stands for planter bag, and the number is roughly how many pints of mix the bag holds, so a PB3 is a smaller grade and a PB5 is a step up in size and root development. Larger grades give you more instant impact and a head start on establishment, while smaller grades are cheaper per plant and catch up quickly in the ground. We can talk through the right grade for your budget and the look you are after.

Can you grow specific plants to order for a project?

Yes, contract growing is a big part of what we do. If you have a large job coming up, give us the species, grades and quantities along with your planting date and we can grow the plants to spec. Ordering ahead like this is the best way to guarantee you get exactly what the design calls for, at the size you need, on the week you need it.

How far ahead should I order plants for a landscape job?

For a standard job with common lines, a few weeks is usually enough to lock in stock and delivery. For bigger projects, unusual species or specific large grades, the earlier the better, ideally a season or more out. Early orders let us hold or grow the right plants for you rather than you having to substitute at the last minute.

When is the best time to plant in New Zealand?

For most of the country, autumn and early winter are ideal because the soil is still warm and the rain does the watering for you, which gives roots time to settle before summer. Spring planting works well too, as long as you can keep the water up through the first dry spell. We can grow to hit either window, so plan your order around when the plants will actually go in the ground.

Do you grow New Zealand native plants?

Natives are a core part of our range, from hardy grasses and flaxes for mass planting through to specimen trees and shrubs for feature areas. They are well suited to local conditions, support native birds and insects, and are a common requirement on council and revegetation work. If you are matching an eco-sourcing requirement, let us know the area and we will help you get it right.

How do you make sure plants arrive healthy and ready to plant?

Every plant is grown on our own benches and checked for root development, health and grade before it leaves. We stage orders so plants are pulled fresh, and we load and deliver in a way that protects the foliage and the root ball. When your order arrives it should be well rooted, clean and ready to go straight into the ground.
